Buarcos Bay and Figueira da Foz Beach The Figueira da Foz is a very famous beach, namely for its extensive sandy area. Walking through the pleasant wooden passageways, one comes across to an astonishing ocean, as far as the eye can see.
The beach offers several facilities, such as the typical canvas tents that are the trademark of the beach.
The pedestrian road parallel to the beach is also quite frequented, and provides pleasant leisure moments.
The proximity to the urban area allows the easy access to the beach, that also has good parking conditions.
Several restaurants, bars, esplanades offer unique ambiances for perfect beach days and nights. This collecting site, in Buarcos bay, is located at 40 º 16' North and 8 ° 90' West, northern of Mondego Estuary and southern of Mondego Cape. Sampling and observations were made at the intertidal level, consisting predominantly rocky substrate, but with some intertidal pools, little tilted and exposed to waves.
