Luc-sur-Mer is a commune in the Calvados department in the Basse-Normandie region in northern France. Luc sur Mer’s size is 394 hectares (973 acres). It’s located 17 km (10,6 miles) north of Caen on the seashore. The commune of Luc sur Mer gathers 3063 inhabitants (census 1999). It is surrounded in the south by the commune of Douvres-la-Delivrande (the administrative center of the Canton), in the east by the commune of Lion sur Mer and in the west by the commune of Langrune sur Mer. It belongs to the communes of the “côte de Nacre” (Mother of pearl’s coast), lining the English Channel from Ouistreham to Courseulles. |
