São Mateus da Calheta, Ilha Terceira, Azores São Mateus da Calheta (or São Mateus) is a rural parish and fishing village about 4 kilometers from the city of Angra do Heroísmo. Surface is flat with a climate agreeable and relatively small (the second smallest county), but has a significant population density compared with the other parishes in the county. São Mateus is part of the main tourist routes in the municipality of Angra, it has great potential. It was situated next to the sea offers excellent bathing areas, such as the Bold, but much to see, from an imposing parish church, whose patron saint is St. Matthew, several chapels, empires, several forts, museums, playground and tennis club, band, the largest fishing port of the island and crafts.
