The Consolação Beach is famous for its therapeutic features: in a charming bay the iodine accumulated along with other natural conditions, and by the sun exposure, allows the well-being in the many people that search in this beach the treatment for its rheumatic and osseous problems. This is the main fact that attracts every year many thousands of visitors during summer months. On the northern side, the landscape is completely different. From the Fort onwards an extensive sandy area takes place for several kilometres, heading to Peniche. The ocean has quite strong tides, providing great conditions for surf and body board, making of this a beach quite frequented by youngsters.
