Yellow or (golden) brown marine species. Hollow interior and small. Colpomenia sinuosa apresents irregular convolutions whose number increases as the algae grows. It may have a hairy surface. Prefers shallow reefs. It is used in human alimentation and animal feeding and it has medical use for its antibacterial and antitumor properties.
