Halopteris scoparia is a dark brown algae that forms beautiful fluffy clumps in shallow rocky-bottomed water. It only grows up to 15 centimeters in length and it is known to be used in personal care products, because it contains growth substances (phytohormones) that include auxins, gibberellins, cytokinins, abscissic acid and betaines. The range of Halopteris scoparia spans from Norway to Cape Verde and the Mediterranean, and also in the Black Sea. It can also be found along the Atlantic provinces of Canada. |
