Description: Chondria coerulescens exhibits flexible fronds with cartilaginous texture. The fronds are bluish or yellowish with blue iridescence, and when dried exhibit black color. Early  axes display a turquoise iridescence when alive. The thalli consist of cylindrical axes with 3-8 cm in length. The main axis is 0,4-0,5 mm in diameter, branching sparsely in spiral at irregular intervals. Branches are linear, frequently long and curve to soil. The morphology of  Chondria coerulescens shows relatively small variation, except that some thalli consist of discreet isolated axes whereas others assemble dense tufts.
