Dilsea carnosa é uma Rhodophyta (algas vermelhas) típicas dos mares do hemisfério norte do planeta.
É encontrada de forma perpendicular ao substrato, mantendo-se fixa pelo disco basal. Tem a estirpe longa e grossa, semelhante ao material couro. Tem uma cor fosca e turva. Quando imatura, não apresenta divisões nas lâminas que se intensificam com o passar do tempo.
