Specimens identified, by Le Jolis, as Bifurcaria tuberculata Stackh.. Their identification was revised by R. Lami remainig as Bifurcaria tuberculata (Huds.) Stackhouse. However, the currently accepted taxonomic classification, review by Leonel Pereira, is Bifurcaria bifurcata R. Ross, according to the publication of Ross, R. (1958). The type of Bifurcaria Stackhouse Species, Journal of the Linnean Society of London, Botany, 55: 753-754. Are copies of the publication “Le Jolis-Algues marines de Cherbourg”. Espécimes identificados, por Le Jolis, como Bifurcaria tuberculata Stackh.. A sua identificação foi revista, por R. Lami, mantendo-se como Bifurcaria tuberculata (Huds.) Stackhouse. No entanto, a classificação taxonómica actualmente aceite, revista por Leonel Pereira, é Bifurcaria bifurcata R. Ross, segundo a publicação de Ross, R. (1958).
