Specimen identified, by I. Newton, as Pycnophycus tuberculatus Kg.. Their identification was revised by R. Lami to Bifurcaria tuberculata (Huds.) Stackhouse. However, the currently accepted taxonomic classification, review by Leonel Pereira, is Bifurcaria bifurcata R. Ross, according to the publication of Ross, R. (1958). The type of Bifurcaria Stackhouse Species, Journal of the Linnean Society of London, Botany, 55: 753-754. Present in the original herbarium sheet No. 46. Espécimes identificados, por I. Newton, como Pycnophycus tuberculatus Kg.. A sua identificação foi revista, por R. Lami, para Bifurcaria tuberculata (Huds.) Stackhouse. No entanto, a classificação taxonómica actualmente aceite, revista por Leonel Pereira, é Bifurcaria bifurcata R. Ross, segundo a publicação de Ross, R. (1958).
