Notes: André Carvalho; Guilherme Gonçalves; Abu Qir Bay, Alexandria, Egypt – This bay rests in the Mediterranean Sea and it is considered to be a biodiversity hot spot. Due to its location, this bay has a high concentration of heavy metal because of all the land activities that take place near the Nile river. There are some companies of fertilizers and energy production companies located in the area, contributing as well to the contamination of the bay.
Description:

Sargassum vulgare is a marine seaweed specie. It was discovered by C.Agardh in 1820. It is  brown seaweed of the family Sargasseae. They can be found in rocky substrates. They are divided in a small stipe and a frond which resembles a small bush.
