Notes: Pedro Ribeiro Collecting Site: Alesund, Norway Site Description: Alesund is a town, that consist in seven islands connected by sereval bridges, or having to travel by boat between docks. The coast of these islands is vast as its marine life, being almostly fully connected with the Atlantic Ocean.
Description:

One of biggest red algae, Dilsea carnosa are tought and have a leathery texture. From a single disc shaped branching, several flat blades expand, with a dark redish/brown color, sometimes having little holes. Those blades have a short cylindrical stripes, and do not have veins or midrib and are spoon wedge or spoon shaped. Older blade may be split from a margin towards the base. The disc is continuously  produces new blades, allowing it to persist for many years.
