Notes: Beatriz Pimentel, Cindy Mendes - Local de Colheita: Cala Bassa, Ibiza, Spain - The photo of the seaweed was taken in Cala Bassa, Ibiza, Spain. Cala Bassa is a beach situated in the west coast of the Ibiza island. It has the clearest water and large rock formations on each side.
Description:

Jania longifurca is marine seaweed species with an erect and bushy body attached by a strong base, with its colour changing from violet to grey and its size can reach 7cm high. Its Phylo is Rhodophyta, its Class Florideophyceae, its Order Corallinales and its Family is Corallinaceae and it can be found in Europe, Africa, Atlantic islands and Turkey.
