Notes: Andreia Melo e Elisa Moura - Playa de la Arena, Tenerife, Spain - Playa de la Arena is a small beach with the characteristic volcanic black sand of the area and the prestigious European blue flag for its cleanliness. Placed to the north west of Tenerife (the largest of the Canary Islands), it is known not only for being much quieter than its southern counterparts and showing a relaxed lifestyle, but also for its natural beauty, with a rugged coastline and volcanic landscapes, sweeping cliffs and stunning palm trees.
Description:

Galaxaura rugosa is a species of red algae (division Rhodophyta) which belongs to the order Nemaliales. It is a small red/orange-coloured alga with a calcified thallus that forms dichotomous branches in a bush-like way.
