Notes: Helena Aires, Sara Canário Eskifjordur, Iceland Eskifjördur is a town located in the eastern region of Iceland, Austurland, bathed by the Norwegian Sea, Atlantic Ocean.This town is part of the Fjarðabyggð’s county. The coordinates that remit to this location are: Latitude : 65° 4.3836’ N Longitude: 14° 0.915’ W Eskifjördur is located in a rural and mountainous area, where spar mines are integrant part of the landscape as are the glaciers, wooded valleys and waterfalls. Geologically is one of the oldest parts of Iceland. Its biota integrates a huge variety of bird species. At last, the main feature of this land’s scenary are its green fields and wet weather.
Description: Eskifjordur, Iceland

Ulva compressa Linnaeus, 1753, also known as Enteromorpha compressa. Taxonomically its placed in the Chlorophyta phylum, and Ulvaceae family. Fisically it can be described as compressed, elongated with hollow fronds and green coloration. It can be found in salted water particularly in upper shore rocky and sandy pools. It is resistant to an high range of temperature and salinity. In its tubular fronds we can find oxygen bubbles that correspond to photosynthetic activity. Its distribution remotes commonly trough Britain and Ireland but it can be seen all around the world.
