Notes: Catarina Oliveira, Inês Almeida; Recolhida em Porto Covo, Sines, Portugal (37º 51’06’’N 8º 47’ 31’’ O); This beach have white sand and clear water. The various beaches are separated by large rocks and they are protected from the wind by cliffs and escarpments slopes. The climate is markedly Mediterranean, making a high moisture throughout the year with intense fog and mist along the coast. There are extreme temperature range and extreme temperatures.
Description:

The species name is Cystoseira humilis Schousboe ex Kützing 1860 and it belongs to Phaeophyceae class (Brown algaes) . It is characterized by the presence of air-vesicles named pneumatocysts that keep the organism erect, by causing it to float and by highly differentiated basal and apical regions. The lower parts have foliar expansions (or basal leaves) and the old plants have an elongated main axis. They have receptacles in fertile regions, normally found at the tips of the branches.
