Notes: Paulo Carvalho, Tiago Costa Porto Covo, Sines, Portugal Located in the privileged Southwest Alentejano and Costa Vicentina Natural Park, the peaceful fishermen village of Porto Covo has been able throughout the years to preserve its entire traditional ambiance that offers such beauty and charm. The civil parish of Porto Covo has 48.73 km2 of area, and today includes 1400 inhabitants. A coastal parish, it is located about 13 km south of the municipal seat Sines, but comprises an interior catchment that extends seven 7 km into the interior. While it is fronted to its north by the civil parish of Sines, it is surrounded to the west by the civil parish of Cercal (in the municipality of Santiago do Cacém) and south by the civil parish of Vila Nova de Milfontes (in the municipality of Odemira). Even though it has been every time more famous and called for, presenting nowadays a wide offer of commerce and accommodation, Porto Covo streets dazzle its visitors with its charming white houses. With the ocean as scenery, Porto Covo delights us with its beautiful landscapes, with gorgeous beaches and the typical Alentejo’s region plain fields. Gastronomy and the art of welcoming surely make you wish to return your visit once again to charming Porto Covo.
