Description: Halopteris scoparia, is a dark Brown algae which forms fluffy clumps in shallow rocky-bottomed water. This algae grows up to 15 centimeters in length and has a main axis with alternate plumbed branches which are almost fan-shaped. Although, when they are covered by watter, their form turn into a cone-shaped tufts formed by many filamentous branches. These plants have diferent behaviour from the other plants because they are lacking in free-living plants. These plants are usually found in pure, sheltered waters with high light levels.
