Notes: Miguel Dias e Sara Mendes Porto Covo, Sines, Portugal The climate of Porto Covo has a marked Mediterranean character. The influence of the ocean moderates the weather in some aspects, particularly the variation of humidity, which is always high throughout the year, and in the incidence of fog and mists, senses intensely with the coast. Also the temperature variations and extreme temperatures are attenuated along the coast. However, the Atlantic influence decreases rapidly as one moves inland. In addition to being a characteristic fishing village, Porto Covo is also a center of tourist interest, with its fine white sand beaches, warmed by the sun, between the cliffs. With blue sea background, Porto Covo involves us with its beautiful landscapes, its magnificent beaches, and its typically Alentejo plains.
Description: Algae with a hard whitish-pink erect thalli that forms a adherent crust on the substrate, impregnated with limestone. It has vertical curled leaves, contoured and hemispheric structures that form anastomoses with 1 or 2 cm.
