The photo was taken in Porto Covo, Sines, Portugal. This location is a beach surrounded by high cliffs with difficult access to harvesting this seaweed. The beach area has small dimensions and it’s cut by a stream that flows into the sea. It’s usually attended by fishermen and tourists. |
Description: |
Spongy dark green thallus with a pillow shape fixed to the substrate. It has entangled filaments, gelatinous texture and it is smooth to the touch. This seaweed covers the surface of rocks with access to the water and in places with few light. |
