Notes: Edgar Ribeiro e Sara Lopes Marinha Beach, Lagoa, Portugal: Marinha Beach is located between Armação de Pêra and Carvoeiro. It’s a small cove beach that nestles snugly at the base of rocky outcrops. The water quality and clarity here is exceptional and many different marine species can be spotted in this waters. Here can be seen a vast collection of caves and grothoes.
Description:

Halopteris scoparia is a marine specie of brown algae. Only grow up to 15cm in length and have numerous filamentous branches. The form is similar to a fan. These algae is found in pure water with high light levels. This plant is usually attached to rocks by a disc with a lot of rhizoids. Clumps of Halopteris scoparia are frequently found in the shallow subtidal zone. Although they may be found in shallow tidepools or sandy-bottomed areas.
