Porto Covo, Sines Portugal:
Buizinhos beach was named after the big amount of búzios which is the portuguese word for whelk that can be found in this beach. It locates on Porto Côvo, Portugal in the extreme south side of the urban front. The sandy beach is not extent and it’s between cliffs, making difficult to access it. It’s a cold water sea beach and the color of the water are blue-turquoise. It also has a big variety of fauna and flora. Low tide allow us a broader vision of the variety of flora (e.g. algae), that facilitates the access and study of it.
In the top of the cliff is a viewpoint which allow us to observe the beauty of this beach.

Description: |
It’s a multicellular seaweed 1,5 to 10 cm high, erect, bushy, whitish pink or reddish-lilac color. The cell walls are constituted by limestone. Morphologically has articulated fronds, and has a layout similar to a fishbone. Being an abundant seaweed in the Azorean coast, and is often attached by a crustose basal disc on rock, in exposed coasts, lower intertidal, southern and occasionally in western coasts. |
