Notes: Pablo Prieto Rodriguez Maria Lopez Ojeda Eskifjordur, Iceland. Eskifjordur, is a town and port in eastern Iceland with a large fishing industry. It has a population of 1,043 and constitutes one of the most populated villages part of the municipality of Fjardabyggd. This is a very hospitable village. One of the most interesting place of his landscape is Eskifjorour Holmatindur s hill with 985 meters high above sea level. The town does not have a well-developed tourist infrastructure, but still can be practiced small-scale tourism. Eskifjordur contains a Maritime Museum, where you can see fishing boats, nets, tools and other accessories. An important activity is mining, that began in the XVII century. In the city, from January to May, is the best time to practice ski, because of the best conditions.
Description:
Saccharina latissima is a brown algae, of the Phaeophyceae class and the Laminariaceae family.
Due to its shape, it is also known as sea belt or Devil s apron. It can grow to 5 meters long and 20 centimetres wide. It has a central band, that is dimpled while the margins are smoother with a wavy edge.
It is located in the north east Atlantic Ocean and in the Barents Sea south of Galicia (Spain). Also it appears around thhe coasts of the British Islands.
