Notes: Beatriz Lacerda, Jéssica Abrantes. Cala Domingos, Cales de Mallorca, Mallorca, Spain. Cala Domingos Petits, also known as Cala Tropicana, is a cove located in Cales de Mallorca, along with another coves, Cala Domingos Grans and Cala Antena. This cove is located fairly close to Calas Domingos Grans. It is a popular tourist destination, shown by various accommodations using the beaches’ name as their own. The bay, surrounded by rocky fronts, is formed by sandy beaches and turquoise water, where it offers good conditions for snorkeling, giving the opportunity to explore more of the area’s biodiversity.
Description: This seaweed is a unicellular green marine algae composed by a thin stalk that ends in small cap similar to an upside-down umbrella shape, which led to its common name: “mermaid’s wine glasses”. This cap has a radial symmetry. The algae is usually found attached to a rocky surface by a rhizoid.
