Description: |
Algae with 3 to 6 cm in height. The rhizoids attach to a rock surface and have a diploid nucleus that divides during maturation. The thallus is slender and grey green. It ends in a funnel-shaped (umbrella-like) grey green top, with radial rays. During the vegetative growth sterile filaments grow in the stipe but are soon discarded.
