Description: |
The plants are erect, emerging from a single discoid holdfast, and can grow up to 60 cm in height. They range in color from red to brown and have a mucilaginous, smooth, and slippery but firm texture. The branching pattern is radial to irregular. The main axes are either terete or slightly compressed, measuring 2-15 mm in diameter at the base and 0.4-2 mm towards the top. Lateral and adventitious branches vary in number from few to numerous; they are long, simple or slightly branched, and gradually taper in diameter from the apex to the base.
