Description: |
Unattached or basally attached coarse filaments that are usually less than 0.5 mm wide and 3-5 cm long. The filaments are formed of a single row of often swollen cells; if attached then by a discoid base or by rhizoidal outgrowths. Original publication: Kützing, F.T. (1843).
