Thallus habit: encrusting or partly non-adherent, flat, more or less orbicular or lobed (A). Entire (B), thin margin often with annular stripes. Size: diameter up to 5mm, up to 0.02mm thick. Colour of living specimen: mauve-pink. Colour of dried specimen: white ivory. LINK |

Lectotype locality: Roundstone, Co. Galway, Ireland (Foslie 1905: 96). Lectotype: M.H. Foslie; 18 April 1899; "sample a" on Gigartina [Mastocarpus stellatus].. TRH sine numero (Chamberlain 1994: 116). Notes: Chamberlain (1994: 116) records selecting a lectotype in TRH. Syntypes from Sweden (Koster), Denmark (Nyköbing Mors), and Norway (Hvalöerne). |
