Species: |
Pseudopolyides furcellarioides |
Authority: |
Gallardo, Bárbara & Cremades |
Description: |
Plants were 5–17(23) cm high, brownish-black to purplish-red in colour, brown when observed with incandescent transmitted light. The brownish pigmentation leached into formalin-seawater on standing for 24 hours. Thalli were cartilaginous, terete (vegetative branches 1100–2100 µm in diameter), and dichotomously (occasionally trichotomously) branched up to eight orders. Axes were sometimes compressed and up to 3 mm in width at the dichotomies. Branch angles ranged from 30–1008 in lower-intertidal plants (Bárbara et al. 2013). |
