Description: Heavily calcified seaweed with tubular and arborescent body. Colour ivory, pale pink or purple, according to the environment. Cylindrical and wrinkled articulations, 1-2 mm wide, branching dichotomous. Form dense masses 2.5 to 8 inches tall. Joints rarely found at branching dichotomies and not swollen. Reproductive structures placed in the most extreme branches. Is fixed to the substrate by a wide disk.
