Description:

Jania rubens (Linnaeus) J. V. Lamouroux, is a species of multicellular red alga of the genus Jania. Is a calcified alga which rose-pink fronds grows slender that rounded bunches form reaching 5 centimeters long, although in strongly illuminated areas its color can be slightly yellowish white. Typically found in the intertidal zone at the water's edge, the alga has a luxurious, fluffy look and can grow either directly attached to rock by small conical discs or attached to other algae (epiphytically).
