Thallus sheet-like, with a light green color. Can grown up to 25 cm long (The Seaweed Site, accessed at 2013/11/21). Persists throughout the year. It has 2 life cycles (Sporophyte and Gametophyte) which are isomorphic - that means both the Sporophyte and Gametophyte phases look the same.  It’s also known as Phyllona lactuca (Linnaeus) F.H.Wiggers 1780, and more commonly as sea lettuce (Algaebase, accessed at 2013/11/21).
