Porto Judeu is a village located in the municipality of Angra do Heroísmo, on the southeasterly of the Terceira island, Azores. It has an area of 30,86 km2 of which 28,5 are from the island itself and 2,36 are from Ilhéus das Cabras. It extends from the cost, where it borders with Vila de São Sebastião e Feteira, to the interior, where it borders with Ribeirinha, São Bento, Posto Santo, Quatro Ribeiras e Agualva.
Porto Judeu is habited by 2 501 people, according to statistic in 2011. The active population works in many activities, such as farming, fishing, construction, woodwork, carpentry, bakery, restaurants etc. It has a harbor and an excellent sandy area. Because it’s located in a dry region, its microclimate is also dry and salubrious. |

Plants smooth, hemispherical, irregularly lobed, golden brown, hollow, to 30 cm diameter and 10 cm high, with multiple attachments to substrate. Often covered with fine colorless hairs. Reproductive sori as dark raised patches on surface. Thallus membranaceous, 300-500 um thick, 4-6 cell layers. Plurilocular sporangia cylindrical to club-shaped, 3.7-8 um diam., 18-30 um long, in dense clusters, scattered on surface. Plurilocular reproductive organs uniseriate or with occasionally divided locules, 30–40 µm and 6–10 locules long, 4–5 µm in diameter, 2 or 4 rows arising from each cortical cell, accompanied by scattered, clavate, unicellular paraphyses (25–)30–50 µm long and 8–16 µm diameter, with dense physodes. Its habitat can go from the mid littoral zone to below low tide level, mainly in summer. It can generally be found around the Australian Coast. |
