Notes: Manuel Rodrigues and Ricardo Rocha ----- Porto Judeu, Terceira, Azores, Portugal ------- Porto Judeu is a village of Angra do Heroísmo county, located on the southeastern coast of the island of Terceira in the Azores. Because it is located in a dry zone, has a dry and healthy micro clime. Here prevails an undergrowth, due the way of life of its population, that mostly work in agriculture and livestock also fishing is another huge important activity for the population. Porto Judeu presents a sharp rocky coast that offer shelter and protection to high diversity of species of living beings.
Description:

Chaetomorpha linum more known as spaghetti algae is a green seaweed (It is bright light to dark green in color). These algae grow as a filamentous loosely entangled mass, most of the times free-floating, it may also be attached to rocks and shells. The filaments themselves are unbranched and usually between 5 and 30 cm in length. The unattached filaments are wiry, stiff and curled in appearance. Is an intertidal species that can be found in groups of individuals in sandy areas or on rocks.

C. linum is especially common in saltwater aquariums because it can be used for removal of nutrients, especially nitrates and assist in buffering pH and also assist in balancing trace elements.
