Description: Undaria pinnatifida, often referred to as wakame, is a large brown macroalgae that originates from the cold temperate coastal regions of the ocean pacific . Belonging to the Alariaceae family, it is know for being a invasive species, being able to quickly spreading to new areas beyond its native habitat. Wakame features a frilly, blade-like frond with a central midrib and can reach lengths of 1 to 3 meters when conditions are good.
