A hemophrodite green alga with a branched, spongy stalk covered in hairs that give it a velvety appearance. At the base it has a disk of filaments to attach itself to rocks up to 10 m deep. It has a monophyletic life cycle. It is native to the northeastern part of the Atlantic Ocean, but can also be found in Asia and South Africa. |
