Description: Sargassum multicum, also known as Japanese Wireweed, it's a large brownseaweed in which some specimens grow up to 10m long. Originated from Japan, it's an evasive species that grew to be part of almost the entire Portugal coast due to its rapid growth. It attaches on a hard substrate, which can be rocks or shells, using its basal disc. It has a stem and primary branches from which leafy branches emerge in spiral, in this leafy branches there's aerocysts that enable vertical growth. Its color varies depending on the time of year, changing from a Dark brown to a yellowish brown.
