Description:

   Undaria pinnatifida is a brown alga, commonly known as wakame. Native to the cold temperature coasts of the North Pacific Ocean, this alga derives their color from their carotenoid fucoxanthin. Undaria is parenchymatous with growth from its intercalary meristem between the stipe and the blade, it can reach up to three meters with broad fronds and wavy edges. This multicellular alga has an oogamous sexual reproduction and is mostly harvested for food industry, often found in soups or salads.
