| Description: |
Chondrus crispus is a red macroalgae with a dark red-purple cartilaginous thallus that is dichotomously branched with rounded tips. It attaches to the substrate via a small holdfast disc from which the unbranched initial stipe extends, gradually, expanding until it forms a fan-shaped thallus. This specimen is around 7 cm long, but the species can reach up to 22 cm in length. |
